How to:

Install the Grafikhuset CMYK PDF Creator printer on Windows 2000 or Windows XP

Prerequisites:

• Windows 2000 or Windows XP
• Adobe Acrobat 5.0, 5.05 or 6.0, the full product incl. the Acrobat Distiller (5.X) or Adobe PDF (6.0) printer.
• Acrobat Distiller set-up to use Press Job Options. See How to: Ensuring Successful PDF Conversion for details about this.
• The Grafikhuset CMYK PDF Creator Configuration utility must have been run at least once.

Follow these steps to install the Grafikhuset CMYK PDF Creator printer:

• Open the Start -> Settings -> Printers folder and double-click the Add Printer applet (under normal conditions the Grafikhuset CMYK PDF Creator Configuration utility will start the Add Printer applet for you when you double click the Grafikhuset CMYK PDF Creator Configuration icon on your desktop for the first time; it will also start a browser window with installation details).
  Click Next.
   
• Select the Local printer option and uncheck the Plug and Play checkbox.
  If you can't activate the Local printer option you must have the system administrator perform the installation for you.
  Click Next.
   
• Select the Use port option and select the PDF Port.
  If you don't have a PDF Port listed you must install the Acrobat Distiller Printer that follows Adobe Acrobat 5.0 or later before you continue installation.
  Click Next.
   
• Click the Have Disk button. In the displayed dialog click the Browse button and navigate to the Driver subfolder to the folder where you installed Chameleon CMYK PDF Creator. This folder is usually:
  C:\<Program files>\Chameleon CMYK PDF Creator\Driver.
  Double-click the CCOnTheFly.inf file.
   
• Click the OK button
   
• Select Chameleon CMYK PDF Creator and click Next.
  If the Add Printer Wizard suggests that you keep an existing driver, then do NOT do that. Let the existing driver be replaced and click Next.
   
• Do not set the Chameleon CMYK PDF Creator printer as your default printer.
  Click Next.
   
• Do not define a share for the Chameleon CMYK PDF Creator printer, since this is prohibited by the End User License Agreement for both Chameleon CMYK PDF Creator and Adobe Acrobat Distiller (unless you have a Distiller Server License).
  Click Next.
   
• You will definitely want a Test Page. Therefore, select the Yes option.
  Click Next.
   
• Installation will start. Windows will now tell you that the driver you are about to install doesn't have a digital signature from Microsoft. The Chameleon CMYK PDF Creator printer installation does not install any files with executable content, so you can safely continue the installation.
  Therefore, click Yes.
   
• Installation will now be performed and the test PDF document will be created and will open in Adobe Acrobat (depending on your Distiller Preferences settings).
