Understanding the Manipulate PDF Component

The Manipulate PDF Component (ManipulatePDF.exe) is a component that allow you to easily build a list of PDF documents for printing to any attached printer or concatenation into a new PDF document.

Key features

The key features are:

The Manipulate PDF Component support processing of PDF documents protected with passwords provided that security was applied by one of the available Publi PDF Queues. In this case the Manipulate PDF Component will inherit the security settings from the queue and delegate them through to processing. Finally, if security settings are specified these will be applied to any concatenated PDF document without disclosing any passwords for the user.

Hence, the Manipulate PDF component allows you to work with initially secure PDF documents without having users know any passwords in advance.

This component was first implemented into revision 1.50.0432 of Grafikhuset Publi PDF.

Known problems

Manipulate PDF does not prompt for unresolved passwords in case of protected PDF documents. If Manipulate PDF encounter a protected document, which it can't open, it will instead print an (errEncrypted) message in the status bar. This behavior is intended, but may change in the future.

Printing: PDF pages containing transparency are flattened and send to the printer as an RGB image. This behavior is not intended.

Concatenation: GPL Ghostscript 8.63 is required. If Ghostscript 8.63 is not installed on the same computer as Grafikhuset Publi PDF the concatenation functionality may crash the Manipulate PDF Component. This behavior is not intended.
